Acting governor of St. Petersburg dismissed the head of the Frunze district

Acting governor of St. Petersburg dismissed the head of the Frunze district
The reason for the dismissal of Valery Sapozhnikov was the poor-quality cleaning of the streets and the unsatisfactory improvement of the territory.

SAINT-PETERSBURG, February 4. / TASS /. Acting governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, dismissed the head of the Frunze district of the city, Valery Sapozhnikov, for poor-quality cleaning of the streets and unsatisfactory landscaping. The decision was made at a meeting on the results of an unscheduled detour of the area by the leadership of the city, the press service of the city administration told TASS.

“Alexander Beglov, following the results of an unplanned detour of the Frunzensky district, dismissed the head of the district Valery Sapozhnikov. At the working meeting, the acting governor said that he was accepting his resignation, ”Tass was told at the Smolny Information Department. The press service explained that “Alexander Beglov personally made sure of the numerous complaints of St. Petersburg residents about the poor cleaning of streets and especially sidewalks, approaches to trading companies, as well as the queue at the emergency centers.”

As previously reported in the information department, last week the hotline of the Housing Committee and the Committee for Improvement, which receives appeals from citizens in connection with the unsatisfactory cleaning of the city from snow and ice, received most complaints from residents of Kupchino (Frunzensky district), therefore the acting governor accepted decision to check the status of this part of the city.

“Alexander Beglov personally inspected the condition of the highways on the Obvodny Canal and Ligovsky Prospect. He appreciated the quality of snow removal from buildings and icicles on the roofs of important socially significant institutions. The current head of the city inspected the carriageways along the sidewalks, uncleared pedestrian areas, drove into the courtyards of residential buildings, talked with the citizens of St. Petersburg, ”the press service said.
In St. Petersburg, January 2019 was one of the most snowy lately - about 1 meter of snow fell in a month. According to the Committee for Improvement, public utilities in January of this year took out four times more snow from the streets of St. Petersburg than during the same period last year. Nevertheless, the quality of cleaning the streets from the snow constantly causes complaints from citizens. On Monday, precipitation continued in St. Petersburg, the temperature rose to positive levels, which led to the melting of snow and further complicated the situation on roads and sidewalks.
